Pros:
None!!! The absolute worst crap!!!
Crons:
Way too many pop-ups! Service is too slow, and customer service sucks!! Bunch of damn indian tech support who can hardly speak or understand English!
What the hell? "America" Online in INDIA???
Additional Comments:
Why I chose AOL?
After all the marketing I see, I thought that it was a good ISP. Stupid me, hey, big marketing, means big service, yeah right!
It takes way too long to get connected and when it does, the damn thing disconnects!!!
I've sat for hours trying to just get on line at times! I began to think it was my phone service, but after the technician came out and laughed when he saw it was AOL, he said, try a real ISP and you wouldn't get problems like this. He was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!
From my friend:
In addition to being so slow with the downloads, there's one thing that I hate the most. Too many damn pop-ups! Let me try to explain a little bit about those pop-ups. You try to get on line and as son as you do, there's a pop-up on your screen directly from AOL, trying to get you to buy something like a digital camera, a DVD player, a VCR or a television or something like that.
You can be in the middle of writing an e-mail to someone, and just when you think your safe from the invasion of those aggravating pop-ups, another one comes on the screen to get you to buy something! And when you try to sign off, guess what? you are hit with another pop-up to get you to buy something! Even after you've signed off and are back at your desktop display, guess what? another pop-up surfaces to try to get you to buy something!!
I was supposed to be able to choose the numbers in my area for the computer to dial out to. Have the time most of those numbers just didn't work! One other think that totally freaks me out is that when I tried to go on line, I'd end up waiting for a few minutes, then I hear, "Goodbye." Then the whole log on process as to start all over again!
Too many shortcomings and the service is unreliable! Also when you call to cancel you subscription, they will try to talk you into keeping the service by offering you another 45 days worth of free service. They try everything they can think of to keep you with them!
Another thing that I hate the most is that if you change your billing plan, for instance, you're having the service changed from being billed to your Telephone bill to one of your credit cards or a debit card ( ATM card with either the Visa or Mastercard logo on it ), they will force you to change your e-mail address!! What the hell kind of crap is that?!! Then, you are forced to go through the most aggravting task of telling all of your friends & family who had your old e-mail address that you now have a new one because AOL had forced you to change it, just because you've changed your billing plan!!!!
Yes! Avoid this service at ALL costs!! It's just NOT worth it!!!!!!
